Oh. I am so EXCITED!! We just got back from our mission trip yesterday. We had so much fun.
We had to move this ENORMOUS pile of sand into a sandbox for these kids. It took three whole days of shoveling sand to get it filled to 18". Alan and Darren and Denver had to build a perimeter for another section of the playground and they would have had it done in two days except that they built the inside part too tall and spent the entire second day undoing what they did the first day. but they finished it in the end. The first day, Morgan, Taylor and I had to put together a huge "Turbo Tube Slide". Then we realized that it was too tall for the playset and that another platform had to be ordered in order for it to even fit onto the set. So we hauled sand for the rest of the week. Then, after we finished the sandbox, we had to go around picking up rocks and chunks of cement and asphalt off of the campus because one of the kids got on top of the mulch pile with a rock in his pocket and planned to hit another kid with it. So, I got to use a sledgehammer to break up some of the bigger cement chunks. That was fun. I also got to go on two golf-cart tours of the more historical aspects of the campus, one with the maintenance man and one with Ryan, our project leader. It was pretty awesome. The only problems were the ticks, spiders, and heat. Other than that, the week was WONDERFUL.
A post on the more spiritual aspects of camp is later to come.
